No matter how much we try to ignore it, we are constantly told that we should switch to satellite tv. Why? What’s the big deal? You’ve never had problems with cable, so you just thought you’d leave well enough alone. We know where you are coming from, but there are some really good reasons to consider that satellite tv offer after all.

In most cases, cable tv will be a more expensive entertainment option than satellite tv. This is due to a lack of cable providers and the competition that extra providers can bring to the table. This means that whoever provides cable in your area (and it’s usually only one provider) can charge whatever they want and they have no worries about being out-competed. On the other hand, satellite tv dealers are everywhere. They compete with each other endlessly. This is why we are constantly reminded that we should switch to satellite—it is the very result of this competition. This competition is bad for them, but good for us. It keeps the prices down.

Cable tv doesn’t even come close to channel selection of satellite tv. If you’ve always had cable, you probably thought that the number of channels is pretty good. But, if you look at satellite options, you’ll find satellite tv offers several hundred channels. From the networks, family finds, channels for the little ones, sports and more.

Last, but most definitely not least, is the fact that all satellite channels are broadcast in digital format. This means that you will never be charged extra for the best picture quality. Cable channels are provided in both analog and digital formats. If you want digital, you must pay more.

If these reasons haven’t convinced you, check out some recommended satellite tv providers and their current promotions.
